Graveside services for Charles Fletcher Davidson, age 81, of Mebane, NC will be held Thursday, September 10, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. EST at Christian Fellowship Church Cemetery in Reidsville, NC with Rev. Chip Sallew officiating.
Charles is a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Mebane, NC. Mr. Davidson passed away September 8, 2020 after a short illness. He was born, February 16, 1939 to Sylvan S. and Mozelle Coker Davidson in Lineville, AL.
Charles is a 1957 graduate of Childersburg High School in Childersburg, AL and attended elementary school in Lineville, AL. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1959 where he served on board the USS Turner. He was honorably discharged in 1963.
After his discharge, he began working at Brown engineering in Huntsville, AL where he was an electronic technician and was instrumental in helping to build the nose cone (NASA) of SATURN V that went to the moon in 1969. He later transferred with the company to Lewisburg, TN where he eventually retired.
He met his wife, Nell Norman there and later moved to NC. Where he worked and again retired from GKN at age 62. He and his wife enjoyed fishing, camping, some traveling as well as their church family.
Along with his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Nell Norman Davidson of Mebane, NC; grandparents, Winston Winfield and Dora Reid Davidson of Ashland, Al; two brothers: Carlos C. Davidson of Virginia Beach, Va and Bobby J. Davidson of Childersburg, AL.
He is survived by two sisters: Carolyn D. Cooper (Gerald) of Talladega, AL and Susan D. Bean (Roy) of Lincoln, AL as well as a large and loving extended family.
