Reidsville: Charles Jennings
Davis of 251 Copperhead Rd., died Saturday,
January 19, 2008, at Moses
Cone Hospital.
Born (a twin) on April 12, 1925 to Grace A. and Alfred E.
Davis, of Providence, NC. Charles grew up one of four sons, Clifton,
William “Johnny” (his twin) and Frank.
He was a proud World War II U.S. Army veteran, and worked
most of his life as a lineman for YC Ballenger (through Duke Power Co.). A member of Baptist Temple
Church and the Mountain
Climbers (senior adult group), where he faithfully attended and supported. He enjoyed working with the land – gardening,
any tractor or farming work, cracking walnuts, helping cook for his family,
beekeeping, fishing, and meeting his friends at breakfast. He enjoyed people and touched many lives. He delighted in giving a friend a helping
hand. His strength and love were amazing
examples throughout his life as a devoted and loving husband, an inspiring
father and grandfather, and reliable and interesting friend.
Charles is survived by his wife of 61 years, Naomi Allen
Davis; four children, Debbie and husband, Bobby Haskins, Charles Alan (Al)
Davis, Ann and husband, Dennis Campbell,
Sherry and husband, Robert Isley; grandchildren, Jason and wife, Kim Campbell,
Scott Campbell, Christy and husband, Michael Harrelson; great-grandchildren,
Michael Plummer, Mason Campbell, Barid Propp, and Chelsie Campbell. Survived also by one dear brother, Frank
Coleman Davis and wife, Gladys of Portsmouth, VA; five sisters-in-law, Theresa
Davis, Alma Rogers, Martha Rudder, Katie Bowes, and Nettie Solomon and husband,
Earl; many beloved nieces and nephews and dear friends.
“Charlie” cherished his family both immediate and
church. Most of all he loved his Lord
and Savior Jesus Christ. The strength
and clarity that God granted Charles to the end of his life captivated doctors
and nurses on his case.
Charles’ family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral
Home 5-7 PM on Tuesday, January 22. A
funeral and “Celebration of Life” for Charles will be held Wednesday, January
23 at 11:00 AM at Baptist
Temple Church. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial
Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Baptist Temple Church,

The family would like to express their love and appreciation
to any and all persons that aided in any way in the care of Charles during this
latest time of illness. Dr. Roy Fagan,
Charles’ favorite nurse, Jewell, the nurses of the ER at Annie Penn and the
Critical Care Unit and the Palliative Care Unit at Moses Cone were
amazing. Thank you for loving and caring
for this precious man.
