Charles "Charlie" Glenn Bennett

Reidsville: Charles “Charlie” Glenn Bennett, Jr., 84, passed away July 9, 2014 at Moses Cone Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 12, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church of Reidsville with Dr. Doug McLeroy officiating. The interment will follow in Speedwell Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Mr. Bennett was born in Salisbury, NC to the late, Charles Glenn and Mildred Trexler Bennett. He was a veteran in the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict and a longtime and faithful member of First Presbyterian Church of Reidsville. Serving as the office manager, he retired from the American Tobacco Company. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his friends. He was a member of the Reidsville Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. 1723 for 55 years. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Willis Bennett. He is survived by his children, Glenna Bennett Gallagher of Raleigh, Thomas “Tom” Trexler Bennett and wife, Martha of Cumming, GA and Lynn Bennett Eckert and husband, Kevin of Charlotte, NC; his grandchildren, Jared Yamamoto, Allison Gallagher, Ryan Gallagher, Trexler Bennett, Cameron Bennett, Morgan Bennett, Benjamin Eckert and Charlotte Eckert; brother, Kemp Bennett and wife, Rose of Kinston, NC and several nieces. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Friday, July 11 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and other times at his home.
