Charlie Winford Draper

Reidsville – Charlie Winford Draper, 88, of 121 Camp Dan Valley Road, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Hospice of Rockingham County. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Robeson officiating. The burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Charlie was born in Rockingham County to the late Cannie and Maggie Purgason Draper. He was a volunteer fireman in Wentworth, NC for 20 years, was a farmer, raised cattle and loved the outdoors. He served in the US Army in World War II. He retired from American Tobacco Company after 38 years of service. Charlie was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his son, Wesley Draper; his brothers, Edmond Draper, Hugh Draper, Roy Draper and Paul Draper; and sister, Mintoria Brame. He is survived by his wife, Loel Dalton Draper; son, Joseph Draper; daughter, Martha Ontjes and husband, Robert of Raleigh, NC; grandson, Dalton Draper of Fort Lauderdale, FL; brother, William Russell Draper of Reidsville; and daughter-in-law, Ursula Draper of Tampa, FL. The family will receive friends Friday, May 10, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
