Reidsville: Charlie Franklin “Frank” Witty, 78, of 1120 Wolf Island Road, went home to be with The Lord Monday, March 30, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 2, at 2:00 PM at Baptist Temple Church with Dr. Keith Carroll and Rev. Larry Beaver officiating. The interment will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery.
Frank was born in Rockingham County and was the son of the late Charlie and Lucy Combs Witty. After 34 years of service, he retired from Sears Mail Order. As a longtime and faithful member of Baptist Temple Church, he was a member of the choir, and was currently a member of the Deacon Board. His Godly character was evident in his caring and humble personality; always considering others before himself. His hobbies and interests included hunting, community softball, spending time with his friends at Hardees and he especially cherished his time with his grandson and great grandchildren. Frank was also a charter member of the Oregon Hill Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Stone Witty of the home; daughters, Frankie “Pete” Witty and Malinda “Lindy” Witty Moore and husband, Rick all of Reidsville; grandson, Jonathan Gordon Moore and wife, Gloria of Reidsville; great grandchildren, Rilyn Taylor and Callie Ann Moore; sisters, Doris Witty Farmer and Helen Witty Pickrell both of Reidsville; brothers, Leroy Witty of Reidsville and John Witty of Cascade, VA; numerous nieces and nephews; his special Swedish friend, Anna Timenon and her children, Isak and Emma.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and other times at the home.
