Charlotte Becker "Becky" Smith Murrell

Reidsville: Charlotte Becker “Becky” Smith Murrell, 74, of 1085 Harrison Crossroad Loop, went home to be with The Lord, August 18, 2016 at Penn Nursing Center. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, August 22, 2016 at Reidsville Christian Church with Mr. Shannon Newsome officiating. The burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Sunday, August 21, 2016 at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home. Becky was a native of Rockingham County, born June 5, 1942 and was the daughter of the late, Furman Smith and Claudia McCrickard Fretwell. After the death of her father, she and her brother, Phillip were placed in the Methodist Junior Order Home in Lexington, NC and returned to Eden, NC ten years later. Becky loved the Junior Order and had many home-kid friends. She loved to return to home-kid reunions to see her many friends. Becky worked as the book keeper for the Smith Family business, Crescent Milling, until her son, Ricky was born. Later, she worked at Creighton Industry for forty years as a billing clerk and supervisor. After her retirement, she was a substitute teacher for Rockingham County High School. Becky was a member of Reidsville Christian Church where she taught Sunday School. She loved music and especially enjoyed singing in the Easter and Christmas Specials. Becky is survived by her husband, Ted Murrell of the home; her son, Rick Murrell and wife, Tonya; grandchildren, Lilly, Kathryn and Levi; sisters, Ann Faucette and husband, Jerry and Faye Stone and husband, Carl; brothers, Eddie Fretwell and Tommy Fretwell and wife, Fran; special cousin, Sam McCrickard and wife, Pat of Archdale, NC; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
