Chesley Doyle Overby

Reidsville- Mr. Chesley Doyle Overby, 76, of Reidsville went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 8th, 2013. Mr. Overby was born on September 30th, 1937 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia to the late Chesley Roling and Mary Virginia Walker Overby. He was a retired Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy and later retired from Miller Brewery. Mr. Overby was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and a 32nd Degree Mason. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Angela Overby and his brother, Tim Overby. Survivors include two sons: Dwayne and wife Mary Overby of Perkasie, PA; Mike and wife Leslie Overby of Youngsville; two daughters: Teresa Overby of Reidsville; Michelle Overby of Greensboro; grandchildren: Elizabeth Cox, Joshua Cox, Madeline Overby, Paulina Overby, Peter Overby, Mylie Overby and Angela Overby; one great-grandson: Trenton Saunders; his former wife: Betty Jean Overby of Greensboro; brothers: Gene Overby and Larry Overby; one sister: Shirley Cook. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 12th, 2013 at eleven o’clock at Fairview Baptist Church. Rev. J. Heath Lloyd will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from six until eight o’clock at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
