Brown Summit–Clarence W. Brooks, 86, of 7858 NC Hwy 150 East, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 5, 2012. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, October 8, 2012 at Osceola Baptist Church with Rev. Randall Shaw and Rev. Dale Brooks officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. Mr. Brooks was born in Guilford County and was the son of the late Thomas Jefferson Brooks and Hattie Chrismon Brooks. He was of the Baptist faith and a faithful member of Osceola Baptist Church. He served his country proudly during the end of World War II in the United States Army. He worked for Cone Mills in Greensboro for twenty eight years and for UNCG for thirteen years until his retirement in 1991. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Frank, Herbert, William, Philip and Reid Brooks and his sister, Eva Holt. Surviving is his beloved wife of 61 years, Bessie Brooks of the home; children, Rhonda Wolfe and husband, Kevin of Brown Summit, Dale Brooks and wife, Karen of Durham, NC, Karen Null and husband, Nathan of Greensboro and Tim Brooks and wife Susan of Summerfield; grandchildren, Hollie, Jeremy, Melody, Travis (Christina), Courtney, Tyler, Caitlin, Tanner and Jaden; sisters, Lou Ellen Key of Brown Summit, Mary Huskey of Reidsville, and Dorothy Barnhardt of Salisbury, NC. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Sunday, October 7 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and other times at the home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Clarence’s memory to Osceola Baptist Church Mission Fund; c/o Brenda Brown; 5992 Poley Road, Brown Summit, NC 27214.
