Clarence Vernon Deaton

Reidsville - Clarence Vernon Deaton, 73, of 1848 Pickrell Road, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 13, 2012 at University of North Carolina Hospital.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday July 16, 2012 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. The burial will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens.Mr. Deaton was born on February 8, 1939 in Montgomery County, NC to the late Vernon and Jewell Saunders Deaton. He was a part-time farmer while he worked for Stanley Electric Company and then retired from Mateer Trailers. Clarence was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and racing. Clarence was a devoted father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pattie Deaton; brother, Homer Deaton and sister, Lois Gregory.He is survived by his son, Mike Deaton and wife Toni; daughter, Debbie Ortiz and husband, Sergio; his grandson, Michael Vernon Deaton; sisters, Joyce Stanley and husband, Jack, Mary Hawkins and Colleen Thacker all of Reidsville; special brother-in-law, Hubert Ferguson.The family will receive friends 7:00 - 9:00 PM, Sunday, July 15 at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at his son's home, Mike; 1822 Pickrell Road, Reidsville.Memorial Contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society; 4A Oak Branch Drive; Greensboro, North Carolina; 27320.
