Clarence M. Stone

Reidsville: Clarence M. Stone, Sr., 91, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Annie Penn Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, March 15, 2015, at Reidsville Christian Church, with Pastor Shannon Newsome officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Clarence was born on July 6, 1923, in Rockingham County to the late Tillman Cicero and Mary Betty Strader Stone. He was a tobacco farmer most of his life and also sold vacuum cleaners and Singer sewing machines. He was a member of Reidsville Christian Church where he was a former Deacon and was a member of the Men’s Fellowship Class. He loved fishing, hunting, watching baseball with Doris and playing pool with John Podboreski. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Doris Stone; his daughter, Denise Stone Bailey and husband Mike; his son, Clarence Stone, Jr.; three grandchildren, Lori Landreth and husband Jacob, Matthew Stone and Jacob Clarence Stone; numerous nieces and nephews and his very special friends from Hardee’s. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 6-8 P.M. and other times at the home, 899 Mount Carmel Church Rd. in Reidsville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the building fund at Reidsville Christian Church, 2020 South Park Drive, Reidsville, NC 27320. The family would like to give a special thank you to the doctors and nurses in the ICU Unit at Annie Penn Hospital for their care during his stay in he hospital and a thank you to Brenda Mendoza his in home caregiver.
