Reidsville – Rev. Clingman Carter Capps, 77, of 2101 Richardson Drive, died Thursday, August
7, 2008 at Croasdaile Village in Durham.
A Memorial Service will be held at
6:00 PM Sunday, August 10, 2008 at Woodmont
United Methodist
Church.
Rev. Capps was born in Flat Rock,
NC and served as a minister in the United
Methodist Church
for 51 years, mostly in Eastern North Carolina.
He graduated from Elon College and received his Masters Degree from Duke Divinity
School. He later received
his Doctorate in Edinburgh,
Scotland.
He lived with multiple sclerosis
for the last 50 years, but remained active in the church and in his community
for most of those years.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia
Lewis Capps of the home; children, Nancy Carol Capps of Reidsville, John
Clingman Capps and wife, Carolyn of Asheboro, Mark Edwin Capps and wife, Pam of
Kinston, Pamela Lee Merritt of Charlotte, Julia Annette Jenkins and husband,
Doug of Richlands, Richard Clingman Capps of Reidsville, Scott Edwin Lewis of
Richmond, VA, Shannon Marie Lewis of Greensboro; 14 grandchildren; 2 great
grandchildren; sister, Dr. Julia Anna Capps of Black Mountain.
The family will receive friends at
the home.
