Ruffin- Clio Thompson Blackwell, 90, of 9725 US 29 Business, died Sunday, March 1, 2009, at Annie Penn Hospital.. Funeral services will be held on Friday, 11:00 A.M., March 6, 2009, at Ruffin Stacey Baptist Church, with Rev. Mike Tillman and Rev. Joey Pelino officiating. Burial will follow in Ruffin Cemetery. Mrs. Blackwell was born in Man-O-War, Cay, Abaco, Bahamas to the late Richard and Susan Albury Thompson. Mrs. Blackwell was a member of Ruffin Stacey Baptist Church. She was an avid flower and vegetable gardener and was a homemaker. She also enjoyed crocheting and reading. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard R. Blackwell, daughter, Linda Jean Spivey and son, Loy Wallace Blackwell, 1 brother and 3 sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Daniels and husband, Ed, Virginia Dale Swaney , Susan Banks and Nancy B. Smith and husband, Bobby; son-in-law, Larry James Spivey; grandsons, Bill Evans and wife, Shelby, David Evans, Daniel Evans and wife, Patsy and Tony Lee; granddaughter, Monica Sanchez and husband, Ray; grandsons, Frankie Holley and wife, Brandy and Tracey Holley; granddaughter, Bernadette Priddy and husband, Jonathan; grandson, Larry Spivey, Jr. and wife, Kelly; granddaughter Nancy Gallo and husband, Paulie; 17 beautiful and loving great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Ruffin Stacey Baptist Church from 7 to 9 P.M. and other times at the residence of her daughter, Nancy, 340 Estes Road, Ruffin. Memorial contributions may be made to Ruffin Stacey Baptist Church, 261 Estes Road, Ruffin, N.C. 27326
