Cora Perkins Bussell

Reidsville – Cora Perkins Bussell, 80, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2011 at Penn Nursing Center after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Tuck officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Mrs. Bussell was born in Rockingham County to the late George W. Perkins and step daughter of the late Etta Dyson. She was a retiree of Cone Mills and a member of Penn Memorial Baptist Church. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Clyde Thomas Bussell and sisters, Dorothy McGee and Georgianne Emerson. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Shearer and husband, Mike; son, Wayne Bussell all of Reidsville; grandchildren, Ashley Clark and husband, Eric of Greensboro, Patrick Bussell of Reidsville, Derek Bussell of Arizona, Angie Bussell of Charlston, Matt Shearer and wife, Tara of Brown Summit and Sam Shearer of Garner; great grandchildren, Macyn and Walker Clark of Greensboro and Bella Reece Shearer of Brown Summit; brother, Tommy Perkins and wife ,Glenda; sisters, Jean Isley and Mary Hayes all of Reidsville; thirteen nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends form 6:00-8:00 PM, Monday, May 30th at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home of Mike and Linda Shearer, 535 Drum Road, Reidsville. Our most heart felt thanks to Dr. Roy Fagan, the nurses, nurse techs and the entire staff of Penn Nursing Center for all of their loving care, concern and support given to our Mother and to us, the family for so many years. The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Carolina Piedmont Chapter, 3420 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, North Carolina 28215 or a charity of donor’s choice.
