Cora Loye Chaney

Reidsville - Cora Loye Chaney, 94, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2010 at Hospice Home of Rockingham County. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Lawsonville Baptist Church with Rev. Garfield Doss officiating Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Chaney was a native of Rockingham County. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Lawsonville Baptist Church. Cora was a farmer and an avid gardener among the many other outdoor activities that brought her joy. She enjoyed working with her hands while quilting, sewing, crocheting and embroidery was a love that she was most passionate about. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, L.V. "Buster" Chaney; infant son, Franklin Chaney; brothers, George Loye, Wesley Loye, Johnny Loye and Catus Loye; sister, Ollie Stokes. She is survived by her son, Dwight Lee Chaney and wife, Linda of Reidsville; grandchildren, Keith Chaney and fiancée, Rona Mattioli, Lisa Carter and husband, Chuck, Lori Knowles and husband, Chad and Kevin Chaney and wife, Ginger; great-grandchildren, Kristin Chaney, Jacob Chaney, Jake Carter, Brooke Carter, Brison Knowles, Wyatt Chaney and Erica Chaney; brothers, Coolidge Loye and Albert Loye; sisters, Mary Comer and Roxie Robinette. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on March 1st from 7:00 - 9:00 PM and other times at the home of Dwight, 3382 Vance Street, Reidsville.
