Reidsville - Curtis Eugene "Gene" Larimore, 73, of 6163 NC Hwy 65, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at the Hospice Home of Rockingham County.Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Bethany United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Raines officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military graveside rites.Mr. Larimore was born in Rockingham County, North Carolina to the late Ezene and Sula Carter Larimore. He was a US Army veteran serving from 1961 - 1967. He retired from Sears Roebuck Company and later was the owner / operator of Larimore Grading. He was a long time and faithful member of Bethany United Methodist Church. Gene was a charter member of the Bethany Volunteer Fire Department. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Gene will always be remembered for his faithful support of his children and the youth of the community. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Sybil Baynes Larimore; his grandson, Matthew Scott Larimore and his sister, Annie Ruth Melvin.Survivors include his son, Gregory Baynes Larimore and wife, Linda of Goldsboro, NC; his daughter, Janet Dawn Shaw, DVM and husband, Kevin of Reidsville, NC; his grandchildren, Daniel, Ashley, Madelyn, Audrey and Adelaide; his sister, Ruby Sitar and husband, John; his brother-in-law, Kenneth Errol Baynes, Sr. and wife, Billie of Jamestown, NC and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Saturday, August 11 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM and at other times the family will be at his home (6163 NC Hwy 65).Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, 316 Witty Road, Summerfield, NC 27358.The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Kalsoom Khan and the staff of the Regional Cancer Center at Wesley Long Community Hospital, his special caregiver, Mollie Turner and the staff of Hospice Home of Rockingham County.Wilkerson Funeral Home is assisting the family and condolences may be sent to www.wilkersonfuneral.com.
