Reidsville- Curtis L. Henderson, Sr., 87, of 517 Park Lane, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 14, 2015, at Hospice of Rockingham County. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, on Monday, August 17, 2015, at Trinity Baptist Church with Pastor J. Gaylord Dix officiating. Interment will follow in Trinity Baptist Church Cemetery. Curtis was born on June 29, 1928, in Whitney, SC to the late Lawrence and Nadine Henderson. He lived in Reidsville for the past 59 years. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was honorably discharged. He retired from Western & Southern Insurance Company. While with Western & Southern, he was a member of the President’s Club and the Senator’s Club. Curtis really enjoyed his family. He was a very loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. Curtis was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Estelle Collins Henderson, his parents, a sister, a niece and a nephew. Survivors include his children, Curtis Henderson, Jr. and wife Tina of Concord and Jo Ann Stephenson and husband David of Myrtle Beach; three grandchildren, Joseph A. Mahoney, Jr. and wife Erin, Jennifer Smith and husband Brent and Courtney Henderson and boyfriend Kyle; two great grandchildren, Steven and Dylan Smith; a brother, Don Henderson and wife Janice of Spartanburg, SC; a sister, Ruby Bohanon and husband Jerry of Garland, TX; two nieces, and special friends, Barbara Oakes, Sue Ligon, Trubie Benson and Alisa Gilboy. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 16, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
