Ruffin – Daisy Apple Evans, 89, Morehead Nursing Center, went home
to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at the nursing home.
Funeral services were held at 2:00
PM Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce McBride
and Pastor Aaron Withrow officiating. Interment
followed in Happy Home Christian Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Wallace Walker, Austin
Williams, Landon Wright, Perry Brookshire, Avery Wright and Chris DeLapp. Honorary pallbearers were William Setliff, J.
D. Walker and Bob Blackwell.
Daisy was born in Rockingham County to the late Ross and Eugenia Nunn
Apple. She was a longtime and faithful member of Happy Home Christian Church
and was a former member of the Willing Workers Circle. She was also a member of
the Happy Home, Home Demonstration Club. Daisy was a tobacco farmer and she
loved working in the yard sharing her gift of growing beautiful flowers. She
also enjoyed traveling. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Other than her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of over
50 years, Clarence Evans; her son, Freddy Evans; her sisters, Mabel Underwood,
Erma Clark, Effie Weatherford and Hazel Crumpton; and her brother, John Apple.
Daisy is survived by her daughters,
Judy Evans Chapmon and husband, Irvin of Reidsville and Pam Evans Williams and
husband, Early of Ruffin; grandchildren, Elizabeth Evans, Teresa Brookshire,
Jay Evans, Landon Wright, Austin Williams and Bayleigh Williams; 6 great grandchildren;
3 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family received friends on Saturday,
March 29, 2008, from 1-2 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home one hour prior to the
service and other times at Judy and Irvin’s home, (2404 Richardson Drive).
