Greensboro – Daisy Covington Shelton, 78, of 4811 Hicone Road, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 5, 2012 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Brown Summit Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Dillon and Rev. Bud Rowe officiating. The burial will follow at Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Shelton was a native of Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late, F.D. and Pearl Easter Covington. She was a faithful and supportive minister’s wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She always made her house a home. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Doug Shelton; brother, Tom Covington and sisters, Nonnie Smith and Joy Paschal. Mrs. Shelton is survived by her husband of 60 years, Rev. Carl Shelton of the home; son, Jerry Shelton and wife, Merrie of Gibsonville; her daughter, Renae Shelton Williams and husband, Danny of McLeansville; grandchildren, Allison and Lee Shelton and wife, Courtney, Brad Vernon and wife, Lori, Chad Williams and wife, Melissa, Brad, Karla, Kimmie and Thad Williams, Amber and Noah Shelton; great grandchildren, Reed and Ty Shelton, Aden Vernon, Alyssa, Josie and Sophie Williams and Adam and Autumn Shelton; brother, Jim Covington; sisters, Mary Johnson, Shirley Bame, Ruby Stanley, Bonnie Paschal, Betty Gibson and husband, Sonny and Ersie Johnson and a large extended family. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 6, 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Brown Summit Baptist Church and other times at the home. Memorial Contributions may be made to Brown Summit Baptist Church, 4811 Hicone Road, Greensboro, NC 27405.
