Reidsville – Daniel Coleman “D.C.” Burton, Jr., 91, of 1110 Green Street, died on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at Annie Penn Hospital.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Bill Duke and Rev. Dave Huggins officiating. Interment will follow in Greenview Cemetery with Masonic Rites. D.C. was born in Reidsville and is a son of the late Daniel Coleman Burton, Sr. and Alice Williams Burton. He was a graduate of Reidsville High School, class of 1937 where he played baseball, basketball and was a member of the state championship football team. He attended Elon College and was the retired President of Burton Furniture and Appliance. He was a member of the Jefferson Penn Masonic Lodge #384 AF&AM, loyal order of the Elks, Deacon at First Baptist Church and member of the Brand Sunday School Class. D.C. was an avid golfer and Wake Forest fan. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mabel Burton Brown and Lucy Burton Briggs; brother, Thomas L. Burton.He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marilyn Coleman Burton of the home; daughters, Laura Susan Burton, Lisa Burton-Bennett and husband, Craig; grandchildren, Carson Leigh Bennett and Coleman Craig Bennett; beloved dachshund, Millie, all of Reidsville.The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral home on Tuesday, December 1st from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
