Greensboro - David Samuel Boger, 55, of 3 Drakestone Court, born on December 8, 1956, entered in to the presence of his Lord, God Almighty after a long courageous and inspirational battle with colon cancer, resting totally in his belief that God would ultimately be glorified as he fulfilled God's purpose for him here on earth.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 21 at Westover Church, 505 Muirs Chapel Road, Greensboro, NC 27410 with Rev. Jeff Weber officiating. The burial will follow at Westminster Gardens Cemetery, 3601 Whitehurst Road in Greensboro.
David was a native of Winston-Salem and graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1980 and remained an avid Wolfpack fan to the very end. Later, he received his Masters degree in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University in 1984. He was a member of Chi Epsilon Honors Society of Civil Engineering, a member of the Society of Industrial Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering. During his time at NCSU, he was a member of the Navigators where he taught and led Bible studies. He taught Sunday school at Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, where he was a member from childhood until he moved to Greensboro in 1994. Throughout his life, he served the Lord in multiple capacities by leading men’s Bible studies, serving on mission team committees and participating in numerous missions’ trips. He is currently employed with Thomas Built Bus in High Point, NC where he was a Senior Reliability Engineer. Weight lifting, body building and fitness were all lifelong pursuits. He is a current member of Sojourn Community Church in Greensboro. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lou Whicker Boger and stepson, Thomas Floyd Fretwell, II.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Cindy Chandler Boger of the home; daughters, Angelyn Boger Nye and husband, Brett of Greensboro, Amie Kristian Boger and Alexandra Grace Boger both of Clemmons, NC; and step daughter, Melanie Fretwell Thompson and husband, Kevin of Eden, NC. Also left to cherish his memory are his father, Samuel Talmadge Boger of Clemmons, NC; brothers, Barry Boger and wife, Meg of Concord, NC, Dale Boger and wife, Mary Beth of Winston-Salem, NC; sister, Tammy Boger Wollum and husband, Mark of West Chester, PA and the apple of his eye, his granddaughter, Abigail Marie Nye of Greensboro. He was a well respected and dedicated Christian man that many knew and loved. David enjoyed a close knit family that also included four nieces, four nephews and five step grandchildren. He was great role model for his family and friends who will always benefit from his Godly wisdom.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, November 20 at Westover Church, 505 Muirs Chapel Road, Greensboro, NC 27410 and other times at the home. The family will also be receiving friends at his daughter, Angelyn’s home (4807 Mystic Oak Drive, Browns Summit, NC).
