Reidsville – David
Cummings, 81, of 141 Setliff Road, passed away peacefully
on Monday, February 11, 2008 at the Hospice
Home Center
in Wentworth.
Funeral
services will be held at College
Park Baptist Church on Thursday, February 14, 2008 at
3:00 PM with Dr. Barry Darnell officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn
Memorial Gardens
with Military Graveside Rites.
Mr.
Cummings was born January 9, 1927 to the late George Bartlett and Mary Jarrett
Cummings. He was retired from the American Tobacco Company. He served in World
War II, 1st Infantry Division. Through the years, he enjoyed rabbit
hunting, fishing, and visiting flea markets. He especially loved working with
his hands and building windmills. Along with his parents, he was preceded in
death by his sister, Pattie Cummings Holland.
Surviving
are his wife of 56 years, Ruth Johnston Cummings of the home; sons, David Steve
Cummings and wife, Barbara, Daryl K. Cummings; daughters, Patsy Brown and
husband, Robert and Sheryl Roberts all of Reidsville; granddaughters, Robyn
Brown of Greensboro, Danielle Cummings of Reidsville, Victoria Cummings of
Reidsville, Caroline Cummings of Reidsville and Macy Roberts of Reidsville;
grandsons, Jeff Brown of Burlington and Derrick Cummings of Reidsville and one
great grandson, Chase Cummings of Reidsville; brother, Herman Cummings and
wife, Bessie; sisters, Corene Fulp and husband, Willie and Rhoda Shelton all of
Reidsville and Betty Sue Roark of Iron Station, NC.
The
family will receive friends Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Wilkerson Funeral
Home from 7:00-9:00 PM and other times at the home.
