David L. Moore

Burlington- Mr. David L. Moore, 72, of 1219 Carlton Ave., passed away on Friday, January 2nd, 2015, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 4th, 2015, at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church with Rev. Tommy Privette officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be prior to the service at 2:00 P.M. at St. Luke’s. Mr. Moore was born on July 10, 1942, in Rockingham County to the late Lindsay Walton and Florene Carter Moore. He was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. He retired from Burlington Industries in 2001 and started Gladdy Branch Day Lilies in Reidsville. David loved fishing, gardening and playing golf. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Along with his parents, David was preceded in death by three brothers, Jon, Ernie and Wayne Moore. Survivors include his wife, Joanne Paschal Moore; his children, Dwayne Zimmerman, Phyllis Zimmerman Smith and David Wayne Moore and wife Mandy; his grandchildren, Beth Cochran and husband Danny, Brandy Vuk and husband Bryan, Derrick Smith and Nicholas Smith; his great grandchildren, Tristin Zimmerman, Dixie Vuk and Colton Cochran; his sister, Kitty Moore, and his sisters-in-law, Laura McClure and Faye Moore. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke’s United Methodist Church Building Fund, 752 Greenwood Dr., Burlington, NC 27217.
