David Melvin Soyars

Reidsville- Mr. David Melvin Soyars, 82, of Greensboro, formerly of Reidsville, passed away on Thursday, November 14th, 2013. Mr. Soyars was born in Rockingham County on June 14th, 1931 to the late John Will Soyars and Rosa Kimbro Soyars who died while he was very young. He was raised by his brother and sister-law, Russell and Blanche Soyars. He served in the United States National Guard and retired from American Tobacco Company. Mr. Soyars was a member of Southeast Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sister: Donald Soyars, Robert Soyars, Russell Soyars, Bill Soyars, Raymond Soyars, Jim Soyars and Myrtle Jones. Survivors include his wife: Shirley Taylor Soyars of Greensboro; one daughter: Ann Soyars of Greensboro; brothers: Johnny “Red” Soyars, Jerry Soyars; sister: Martha Diane Soyars all of Reidsville; sister-in-law: Mildred Soyars of Richmond, Virginia; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 18th, 2013 at two o’clock at Wilkerson Funeral Home. Rev. Chris Phelps will officiate. Interment will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
