Dennis Jay Farmer

Dennis Jay Farmer, 75, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 17, 2020 at his home. Services will be held at Tabernacle Baptist Church on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Junior Kennon officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior the service and other times at the home of his daughter, Beth Farmer Jerrell. Burial will follow the service at the church cemetery. Dennis was born to the late Wyatt Graham Farmer and Myrtle Pauline Dalton Farmer in Wyoming County, WV. He served his country in the U.S. Army and retired after working over 40 years as a welder. He was a Christian and a faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Church for many years. He loved to watch the North Carolina Tar Heels Basketball team and was an avid golfer and bowler. He spent many days and played many holes at Wolf Creek and Monroeton Golf Courses. Most of all he loved his wife and family. He will be greatly missed. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, James “Jimmy” Farmer and Ronnie Farmer as well as his great granddaughter, Araya Cline. He is survived by his wife 49 years, Alice Lortz Farmer; children, Jay Farmer and wife, Tammy, Beth Farmer Jerrell and husband, Michael; grandchildren, Michael Jerrell, Crystal Jerrell, Ashley Farmer Cline and husband, Tevin, Adam Farmer, Taryn Farmer, Hannah Jerrell, Jayce Farmer and Emily Jerrell; great grandchildren, Tevin Cline Jr. “Little T”, Jonah Rigney and Hadley Jerrell; siblings, Patty Knight, Rita Farmer, Kenneth Farmer and wife Kathy and Mike Farmer as well as a large and loving extended family.
