Donald Wayne Carver, Sr.

Donald Wayne Carver, Sr., 72, of Reidsville, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Wilkerson Funeral Home, with Pastor Phil Surrett officiating. A private family burial will take place at a later time. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Don was born in Rockingham County to the late James A. Carver and Myrtle Fargis Carver. He and his wife owned and operated DJ’s Community Mart for nine years. Don worked as a senior mechanic at Elastic Fabrics of America in Greensboro for 25 years. He was known as a skilled handyman who could fix anything and was the go-to person if something needed repair. He always wanted to be at the head of the table and loved to hunt and garden. He loved his grandkids and his place at the beach. He also loved and adored his dogs, Midnight and Charlie. Donald was passionate about Duke Basketball and had a fun-loving side, often picking on those around him in good humor, and while he was known to be frugal, he was also incredibly generous and always willing to lend a hand.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his son, Jeffery “Scott” Carver; two brothers, James Lee Carver and twin brother Ronald W. Carver; and two sisters, Cheryl Carver Watts and Minnie Carver Earles.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sandra “Sandy” Carver; son, Michael Suits and wife Lori; daughters, Shelia Suits and Heather Carver Soles and husband Jerry; son, Donald “Donnie” Wayne Carver Jr.; grandchildren, Nathan, Noah, Madison, Nick, and Logan; sisters-in-law, Shirley, Gail, Desiree, Rena, and Tammie; brothers-in-law, David, John, and Chuck; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and a large group of extended friends and family.
