Donald Ayers McCollum

Reidsville –Donald Ayers “Hard Rock” McCollum, 78, of 1080 Benaja Road, passed away on Sunday September 1, 2013 at his home. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Mt. Bethel Christian Church Cemetery. Hard Rock was born in Rockingham County to the late Joe Williams and Nettie Small McCollum and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a retiree of the North Carolina Department of Transportation with over 35 years service and a member of Mt. Bethel Christian Church. He was an avid golfer and card player. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Donald McCollum, II and sister, Glinda Clark. Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Roberts McCollum; grandchildren, Amber Lea McCollum and Ashley Dawn Hartsook; great grandchildren, Chyenne Hartsook and Bentley Slayton; sisters Claudette Brown and Betty Martin. The family will see friends on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 from 7-9 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
