Donald Bedford Mitchell

Reidsville - Donald Bedford Mitchell, Sr., 73, of 9006 NC Hwy 87, died Thursday, October 22, 2009 at the Hospice Unite of Moses Cone Memorial Hospital. A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, October 26, 2009 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Mr. Bobby Dean Mitchell officiating. Pallbearers will be Jordan Mitchell, Bryan Mitchell, Derek Manley, Darren Mitchell, Wayne Gilley, Mark Bynam, Marshall Carter, Elmer French. Mr. Mitchell was born to the late John Lee and Inez Joyce Mitchell. He was retired from Sears and Roebuck Company and farmed all of his life. He raised tobacco and vegetables, which he freely shared with friends and family. Donnie was an avid sportsman including golf, hunting, and he especially enjoyed baseball and softball. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Donald B. Mitchell, Jr. and his sister, Deloris Stockard. He is survived by his wife, Betty Carter Mitchell of the home; his children, Larry Dean Mitchell and wife, Tammy, Lisa Mitchell Manley and husband, Skip and Darrell Keith Mitchell and wife, Karen all of Reidsville; grandchildren, Derek Manley, Darren Mitchell, Bryan Mitchell, Jordan Mitchell and Paige Mitchell; his sister, Jean Shank and husband, Bob of Hampton, VA; daughter-in-law, Jadene Mitchell and a large extended family. The family would like to thank Bobby Dean for his help during this difficult time. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Sunday, October 25 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM and other times at the residence.
