Reidsville –Donald Wayne Watkins, 70, of 233 Wyatt Loop, went home to be with The Lord on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at his home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Clayton officiating. The burial will follow at Reidlawn Cemetery.
Don was a native of Rockingham County and the son of the late Alec and Ethelene Martin Watkins. He was the owner/operator of Watkins Auto Service, he worked at Dillard Paper Company, Elixir, Inc. and later retired as a truck driver carrying the US mail. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a gifted musician and an avid sportsman, especially all forms of racing.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, David Wayne Watkins; his brother, Casey Lee Watkins; his sister, Betty Sue Watkins Lafon; and his mother-in-law, Minnie Kate Williams.
Don is survived by his wife, Doris Williams Watkins of the home; his daughter, Tonya Leigh Watkins Carter and husband, Scott; grandchildren, Amber Dawn and Jonathan David Watkins and wife, Katie, Amanda Leigh and Katelin Lace Carter; great grandchildren, Chante’ Alexandria King, Alexus Davida Noel Watkins, Parker Wayne Smith, Marina Elizabeth Joy Watkins, David Wayne Watkins, II, Andraea Nevaeh Brown and Jaydin Autumn Brown; daughter-in-law, Joy Hiatt Watkins; sister-in-law, Marilyn Moran Watkins; brother-in-law, Sydney Lafon and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation for the overwhelming love and support during this difficult time.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday, June 12 at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
