Donald "Keith" Williams

Reidsville: Donald “Keith” Williams, Sr. – 79, of 1016 Sherwood Drive, died at his home on Friday, October 20, 2012 of a heart attack. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 22, 2012 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Thomas Puryear officiating. Interment will follow in the Happy Home Congregational Christian Church cemetery with full graveside military honors preformed by the Rockingham County Honor Guard. Donald Keith was born in Reidsville, NC on March 22, 1933 to the late Elwood M. Williams and Virgie Newnam Williams. Keith attended Reidsville and Ruffin schools, graduating from Ruffin High School in 1952. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army as a Cryptography specialist. After leaving the service Keith worked in textiles, retiring in 1995 from Macfield Texturing as a supervisor. Keith was an avid sportsman and had played baseball at Ruffin High School and also with other local teams. He also enjoyed playing golf, traveling and had camped across the United States. Keith loved to camp at Ocean Lakes campground, Myrtle Beach, SC with his Ocean Lakes friends. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Elwood M. Williams, Jr. Keith is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Frankie Cross Williams of the home; son, Donald Keith Williams, Jr. also of the home; daughter, Donna Williams Kernodle of Reidsville; grandsons, Charles Keith and Chad Kernodle; aunt, Mary Boyd Newnam of Roanoke, VA; nephew, Elwood M. Williams III of Charlotte; a special cousin who was like a brother, Raymond Hoskins and wife, Margie and a large extended family. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Sunday, October 21, 2012 from 6-8 PM and other times at the home.
