With joy and sadness the family of Donna Marie Sigmon Olivo announce her passing to her home on high.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, August 8, 2022, at Wilkerson Funeral home with Rev. Ron Tuck officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, August 7, 2022, from 2:00-4:00PM and other times at the home.
Donna was born in Newton, North Carolina, the first of four sisters. She graduated from Statesville Senior High School in 1964 and attended Appalachian State University where she would meet her husband, Mike Olivo.
Donna and Mike lived a love, and life story for the ages, all along working together and raising their children Tisha and James and their many grandchildren and great grandchildren who would follow, with a selfless devotion to the Lord.
Donna was a lifelong member of the church and devoted attendee of both Community Baptist and Lawsonville Road Baptist Churches while she lived in Rockingham County.
She managed and nurtured a true Christian home always filled to the brim with love.
That same love would be extended to her many friends and co-workers at Community Baptist School, where she served for a time as cafeteria manager, ensuring no child or visitor ever left hungry!
Donna and Mike enjoyed an active lifestyle of exploring the natural beauty of the area, antique shopping, road trips with the seniors of her church, and discovering new restaurants along the way.
Her grandchildren were the jewels of her heart, and she never ceased to treat them to loving Godly advice and support in times of need.
After Mike’s passing, Donna continued to lead an active social life at her community center, as well as attending breakfast mornings with her dear friends in the Reidsville area.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Olivo; parents, James and Marie Sigmon; grandson, James Michael Anthony Olivo. She is survived by her children, Tisha Olivo Owens and Chuck, James Michael Olivo and Delaine, Ronnie Carter and Jocelyn; grandchildren, Logan Charles Michael Owens and Sarah Beth, Tristan Taylor Olivo and Josh, Elisabeth Marie Owens Ferguson and Cody, Patrick Lee Olivo, Donna Kristine Owens, Matthew Thomas Olivo, Jonathan Allen, Lauren Allen and Matt, Erica Moore; great-grandchildren, Rozzlyn Olivo, Madison Allen and Aria Ramsey; sisters, Barbara Sigmon Cline, Janey Sigmon Munday, Louise Sigmon Oswalt in addition to numerous other extended family.
Donna Olivo had a “heart of service” for this world and all the people around her.
She was the backbone of our family.
We love you Meemaw.
