MADISON – Donnie Clifton Shelton, 72, of 316 Foxwood Road, Madison, NC (Bethany Community) passed away from the earth on Monday, April 12, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be held for Donnie and Barbara, together, on Thursday, April 15, 2010, at 3:00 P.M. at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Shelton, Rev. Crawford Bradshaw and Rev. Torey Easler officiating. The burial will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens. Donnie was a native of Rockingham County and was born to the late Lemley Edward and Stella Hanks Shelton. He was a veteran serving in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was of the Baptist faith. Donnie was an auto mechanic for over 30 years and was currently working with his son with Top Notch Tree Experts. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Mashburn Shelton, his son, Joseph David Shelton, his granddaughter, Marlie Delayna Steele and his brother, Edward Shelton.He is survived by his children, Donnie Ray Shelton and wife, Janet of Madison, Kaye Shelton Steele and husband, Jerry of Madison, Kathy Shelton O’Bryant and husband, Donnie of Reidsville and Dwayne Shelton of Summerfield, Robbie Lee Shelton and wife, Angela of Greensboro, Wes Shelton and wife, Michelle of Madison; grandchildren, Robbie Shelton, Joseph Shelton, Heather King, Hunter Hensley, Chesney Shelton, Mark Shelton, Kasey Shelton, Demi Steele, Adam Steele, Jason O’Bryant, Tracey O’Bryant Pearson and Candace Wiesman; great grandchild, Tristan Ryan Shelton; brothers, Rev. Carl Shelton and wife, Daisy of Greensboro and Curtis Shelton of Madison; sister, Betty Shelton Wilson and husband, Wade of Stokesdale and numerous nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 from 6 to 8 PM and other times at the residence.Wilkerson Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
