Doris Burroughs Barefoot

Reidsville - Doris Burroughs Barefoot, 77, of 108 Apple Gate Drive, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Penn Nursing Center.A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park.Mrs. Barefoot was born on May 29, 1934 to the late John and Evie Bailey Burroughs. She was of the Baptist faith. Doris was a wonderful, loving mother that loved her family dearly and especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed collecting dolls, trains and key chains. Among her other interests she loved to camp at the beach, crochet and word puzzles. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her brother, Reed Burroughs; sisters, Marceline Stewart, Mary Henley, Billie Weddell and Arnell Burroughs; infant baby girl, Donna K. Barefoot and infant baby boy, Jimmy Brian Barefoot. Doris is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Willie A. Barefoot of the home; children, Wanda Barefoot McHone and husband, Steve of Pleasant Garden, NC; Kenneth Barefoot and wife, Vickie of Greensboro, NC and Johnny Barefoot of Middleburg, FL; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and sister, Earleen Isley of Reidsville, NC.The family will receive friends from 7 - 9 pm on January 14, 2012 at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the residence.In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made in Mrs. Barefoot's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105
