Reidsville: Doris Chilton Billingsley, 77, of 1251 US 29 Business died on Sunday, October 12, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Arnold Cook officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Doris was born in Rockingham County to the late Joseph Pickney Chilton and Mary Carter Chilton. She loved gardening, yard work , housekeeping and traveling and was a longtime and faithful member of Community Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family at White Lake. She was formerly employed with Lorillard Tobacco Company and was a co-owner and operator of Gem Dandy Auto Parts. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie E. Billingsley; son, Barry Billingsley; brothers, Clavin, Haywood and Wayne Chilton; sisters, Lucille Wheeler, Elaine Reynolds, Alvinia Henderson; half brothers, Ed, Bryant, Lindsey and Arthur Chilton; half sisters, Carrie Powell, Lela Saunders, Cora McKinney, Thelma Chilton and Ethel Strader. She is survived by her daughter, Diantha Severance and husband, David of Reidsville; grandchildren, Reid and Carter Severance, Baron and Cody Billingsley; brothers, Jessie Chilton and wife, Dorothy; Garland Chilton and wife, Annie Mae; sisters, Vivian Denny and husband, Frank; Colean Shropshire and husband, Claude, Cleo Lawson and husband, Parks, Josephine Ward, Mary Smith and husband, Gene, all of Reidsville; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 14th from 7:00 – 9:00 PM. Other times the family will be at the residence.
