Doris "DJ" Norman

Reidsville: Doris “DJ” Norman, 76, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, August 29, 2015, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Patrick Hutchins officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Cemetery. Doris was born on March 4, 1939, in Guilford County, NC, to the late Guilford Lynn and Nettie Preston Toler. She retired from Phillip Morris in Richmond. She loved her dogs and her family. She was an avid supporter of helping dogs through the Humane Society and other associations. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Along with her parents, Doris was preceded in death by a son, Jack Garfield Garner and nine of her siblings. She is survived by her sons, James Garner and John Garner and wife Tammy; her former husband, Herman Ray Norman; three step children; three grandchildren; one step grandchildren; a brother, Charles Toler; two sisters, Carrie Bartlett and Brenda Sue Rakes; numerous nieces and nephews; special friend, James Pratt, and her five dogs. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8 P.M., Friday, August 28, 2015, at Wilkerson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA.
