Dorothy “Dot Lea” Moricle, 83, of 242 Witty Road, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Bethany United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Angela Marlowe officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Dot Lea was born in Rockingham County on January 17, 1935 to the late Joseph Turner Chambers and Lottie Mae Smothers Chambers. She was a devoted Mother and Grandmother and an avid Tar Heel fan. In addition to farming with her family, she was a secretary at Bethany School and then worked over 40 years as food services director and later secretary before retiring from the Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H center. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant son, James Blair Moricle; brothers, Bill and Dewey “Dink” Chambers; sister, Lola Mae Rudd. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, J.W. “Billy” Moricle, Jr.; children, Cheryl Moricle Cain, Setenna Moricle Tanksley, and husband, Bob, Blaine Moricle and wife, Lisa; grandchildren, Tenna Wyatt, Blair Moricle, Drew Cain and Jackson Moricle; sister, Edith Gunn; special cousins, Jimmy Chambers, Barbara Walker and Mary Lea Newton. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Friday, February 2nd, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and other times at the residence. Memorials may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, 316 Witty Road, Summerfield, NC 27358.
