Dorothy Berry Owen

Eden - Dorothy Owen, 88, 118 Longhook Road, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2011, at her home.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 2, 2011 at Mt. Herman Baptist Church with Rev. Grover Holder officiating. The interment will follow in the church cemetery.Mrs. Owen was born in Stokes County to the late Jerry and Martha Ellen Berry. She was a longtime member of Mt. Herman Baptist Church. She was retired from Burlington Industries and was also the co-owner and operator of Owen Greenhouse and Produce. Mrs. Owen loved growing flowers and vegetables. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Owen; her sisters, Emma Smith, Katie Mae Duncan and Vera Carter; and her brothers, Maynard Berry and Marion Berry.Survivors include her daughter, Robbie Owen Strader and husband, Albert "Al" of Reidsville; her granddaughters, Wendy Strader Steele and husband, Preston and Alison Strader; her great grandson, Ethan Steele; sister-in-law, Hazel Hicks of Eden and numerous nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Thursday, December 1st at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at her home.
