Reidsville – Dorothy Ann Poindexter Pleasant, aka “Mama Dot”, 71, was called home to rest on Friday, June 26th at her home on Strawberry Road. She can now breathe freely again in the arms of her Lord and rejoice with her mother, father, and brother, Junior Poindexter.
Ms. Pleasant was born in Caswell County to Albert and Mary Poindexter on March 19, 1944. She worked hard all her life to provide for her two children, most of her years as a single parent. In her healthier days, she loved to socialize and to spend time with her family and grandkids. And as a strong and witty soul, Mama Dot had a lasting impact on family and friends.
Ms. Pleasant is survived by her son, Stephen Pleasant of Reidsville, and her daughter, Sherry Lewter Sondergaard and husband, Brian of Berkeley Lake, GA; grandchildren: Kristen Lewter, Jason Lewter, Jordan Lewter, Haley Lewter, Tyler Pleasant, Ashtin Peele, and Katelyn Durham; and her sister, Thelma Oatman and fiancé’ Melvin Boyd of Reidsville.
A viewing and celebration of life will take place at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Monday, June 29, at 1:00 pm. The Funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with the burial afterwards at Lively Stone Baptist Church.
