Dorothy Loye Short, 87 passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at her home.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, July 19, 2019 at Lakeview Cemetery in Greensboro with Rev. Allen Myers and Rev. Larry Pope officiating. Entombment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.
Mrs. Short was born in Guilford County on October 31, 1931 to the late Dailey Ashborn Loye and Mary Margaret Loy. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was kind, considerate and very compassionate. It suited her profession as a LPN and head of the Phlebotomy department at Wesley Long Community Hospital for many years. Her sincere faith in the Lord Jesus sustained her through many tough aspects of life. Mrs. Short was of the Baptist faith and she kept her membership with the 1st Baptist Church of Costa Mesa, California, which she attended faithfully for many years before moving back to North Carolina.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Randolph Walter Short; grandson, Nathan Prevost; sons-in-law, Ron Hunter and Bert “Pierre” Prevost Jr.; and three brothers: D.A. Loye, Bobby Loye and Morris Loye.
Survivors include his daughter, Randy Sue Prevost-Hunter of McLeansville; son, Johnny Walter Short and wife, Gaye of Greensboro; grandchildren: Dwain Murphy and wife, Connie; Shawn Murphy and wife, Laura; J. R. Short and wife, Shannon; Paul Prevost; Clinton Prevost and wife, Angela; and David Hunter and wife, Jennifer and Amanda Downs and husband, Jerome; and eleven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family extends a sincere thank you that goes beyond words for Kathy Loye Wyrick for her loving care to Dot for many months.
