Douglas "Doug" Thomas Doss

Reidsville: Douglas “Doug” Thomas Doss, 74, passed away February 28, 2017 while at Avante Rehab Center. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM on Friday, March 3, 2017 at Covington Wesleyan Church with Rev. Ralph Clayton officiating. Burial will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will take place one hour prior (1:00- 2:00 PM) to the service at Covington, 3218 Vance Street Extension, Reidsville, other times at the home. Douglas was born June 13, 1942 in Rockingham County to the late Talmadge Doss and Mattie Cornell Doss. He was married to the love of his life, Christine Lawson Doss for over 55 years. Doug was a very caring individual, very out-going, and loved his family deeply. His hobbies included hunting and fishing. His favorite times included spending holidays with his entire family. Along with his parents, Douglas was preceded in death by his daughter, Terry Ann Doss; brothers: William and Charles Doss; and a sister, Helen D. Grogan. Doug is survived by his wife, Christine Lawson Doss of the home; daughters: Toni Deaton and husband, Michael and Tammy Williams and husband, Dennis both of Reidsville; grandchildren: Michael Deaton, Tangela Mahaffey and Lauren Mahaffey; a brother, James Doss of Reidsville; and two sisters: Barbara Knight and Brenda Wingfield; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Covington Wesleyan Church, 3218 Vance Street Extension, Reidsville, NC 27320.
