Dr. Anthony F. Davis

EDEN- Rev. Dr. Anthony F. Davis, Sr. 72, of 126 S. Hamilton Street, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at Hospice Home of Rockingham County. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at New Heights Baptist Church with Dr. Harold Venable officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Rev. Davis was born on January 21, 1941 in Reidsville to the late Dennis F. and Marcine Tolley Davis. He was an ordained minister in 1969 and previously pastored New Hope Baptist Church in Sharpes, FL. and a church in Christmas, FL. He also pastored several churches in Rockingham County and had a radio ministry for 35 years called “The New Hope Broadcast.” He was a Master Plumber and had his own plumbing business in Sharpes, Fl. He was a member of New Heights Baptist Church. His greatest joy and pride was his childern. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his second wife, Mary R. Davis and a grandson, Charles Ray Allen, III. Survivors include his wife, Janice Collie Davis of the home; daughter Cynthia Lea Phillips and husband, Jody of Reidsville; son, Anthony F. Davis, Jr. and wife, Judi of Shallotte; son, Dennis R. Davis and wife, Kim of Spout Springs, VA; daughter, Susan Marie Bondurant and husband, James of Reidsville; grandchildren, Rhonda Voss, Nicole Magana, Angel Norman, Amanda Michaels, Jessica Walls, Sara Phillips, Ami Phillips, Anthony Phillips, Dylan Davis and Daniel Davis; great grandchildren, Brianna Joyce, Brooklyn Norman, Jacob Norman; sister, Patricia Ann Hall of Maggie Valley; brother, Francis Randolph Davis and his wife, Carol of Rockledge, FL.; several nieces and nephews; step children, Wilma Poole, Steve Keaton, Michelle Worley and Richard Everhart. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 3, 2014 from 6-8 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
