Dwight was born on October 2, 1932, on the family farm in Browns Summit. He was the youngest of six children and was a life-long resident of Browns Summit. Dwight graduated from Monticello High School in 1950 where he played baseball and basketball. In 1953 he married Mary Sue Simpson Chrismon and they lived on the farm until his time in the United States Army from 1957-1959. After returning home he worked on the family farm before becoming employed by Newman Machine Company where he worked for 34 years. In 1972, he was a charter member of the Northeast Guilford Volunteer Fire Department where he served as Chaplin, officer, and served on the Board of Directors. He retired after 33 years of faithful service to his community. Dwight continued to volunteer his time and was an active supporter of all fire department functions until his death.
Dwight was a faithful member of Friendship United Methodist Church for over 75 years. He served in the Choir at the church for over 50 years and held various leadership roles during that time. He enjoyed gardening, and supplying watermelons, produce, and blueberries to family and friends. Dwight will be remembered for his easy-going personality, incredible work ethic, and dedication to his family and community.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Mary Sue Chrismon; his parents and five siblings.
Dwight is survived by his children, Kenneth Chrismon (Stephanie) and Jeff Chrismon (Tracie); grandchildren, Jimmy Chrismon (Adam), Glenn Chrismon (Julia), Scotti Chrismon, Taylor Amos (Hunter), Jake Chrismon; great-grandchildren, Macey and Callie with one more on the way; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
