Edna Pettigrew Denny

Reidsville, Edna Pettigrew Denny, 90, of 518 Merrick Street, passed away Monday, January 16, 2012 at Hospice Home of Rockingham County. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Vance Street Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Land officiating. The burial will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Denny was born in Caswell County to the late John and Lelia Stanley Pettigrew. She was a member of Reidsville Christian Church and attended Vance Street Baptist Church. She loved to crochet. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Denny; her son, Wayne Pettigrew; her sister, Dora Mae Apple; and her brother, Henry Pettigrew, Sr.She is survived by her son, Calvin Pettigrew and wife, Ollie Mae of Reidsville; grandchildren, Lisa Creery and husband, Ken and Jill Porterfield; great grandchildren, Ian Creery, Hillary Bobbitt, Lee Morris and Katie Morris; great-great grandchild, Miles Bobbitt; sister, Eva O'Bryant of Reidsville; several nieces and nephews; her special neighbors, Sandy Carr and Phil Price; and special friends, Dillard and Laura Laws. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 17th from 6-8 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at her home.Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County, PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375.
