Edna Earle Martin Chaney

Reidsville – Edna Earle Martin Chaney, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Penn Nursing Center where she was a resident for six years. A funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Hester officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A native of Rockingham County, Edna Earle was born on July 19, 1922. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Chaney; her parents Joseph Thomas and Alma Boggs Martin; her brothers, Lawrence, Russell, Jimmy, Bill, and Ashby Martin; and her sister, Louise M. Case. Survivors include sister-in-law, Ruth Martin of Reidsville and a host of nieces and nephews. A faithful member of Community Baptist Church, she was a true servant of the Lord. For many years she worked in the church nursery. Although she had no children, she was a mother to many. Known affectionately as “Tissy” to family and friends, Edna Earle had a sweet, loving disposition and always had an encouraging word.
