Kernersville - Edward Leroy Nelson, Jr., 59, of 1300 Shields Road, passed away Friday, September 23, 2011 at his home.Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Harold Venable officiating. The burial will follow at Reidlawn Cemetery.Eddie was born in Rockingham County to the late Edward Leroy, Sr. and Frances Gammons Nelson. He was a member of New Heights Baptist Church and was employed with Associates Parcel Service. He was an excellent golfer and bowler. His favorite past time was playing his bass guitar. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his grandmother, Elsie Smith Gammons.Eddie is survived by his brother, Thomas Nelson and wife, Deborah of Reidsville; his sisters, Bonnie Nelson Teel and husband, Roger of Abbeville, SC and Sandra Hornaday Riddle and husband, Eddie of Newton, MS and several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 28 at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 7:00 - 9:00 PM and other times at Thomas and Deborah's home (2113 Belmont Drive).
