Edward Sutton

McLeansville: Edward A. “Ed” Sutton, 78, of 5830 Carmon Road, died Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, September 25, 2009 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Brother Michael Petty officiating. The burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park in Greensboro. Mr. Sutton was born in Rockingham County and was the son of the late, Levi and Jettie Paschal Sutton. He was a veteran, serving in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Archway Cookies after 22 years of service. Mr. Sutton and Katie consistently worked the Eden Flea Market and he was affectionately known as “the Cookie Man”. He enjoyed fishing, trains, and he especially loved his dog, Sugar and his bird, Sam. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Dinkins Sutton.Mr. Sutton is survived by his wife, Katie Cromer Sutton of the home; his daughters, Sheila S. Latta and husband, Keith of Liberty, NC and Rhonda S. Overman and husband, Matthew of Gibsonville, NC; his step children, Kathy Edwards of High Point, NC, David Gibbons and wife, Becky of High Point, NC and Jeff Gibbons and wife, Susan of Winston-Salem, NC; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; his brother, Broughton Sutton and wife, Sandy of Climax, NC and a special niece, Brenda Visage of McLeansville, NC.The family will receive friends Thursday evening at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and other times at Rhonda Overman’s home, 3721 High Rock Road, Gibsonville.
