Reidsville: Edward T. “Tommy” Cox, 71, of 141 First Court, went home to be with The Lord on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at The Rock Church of the Living God with Rev. Billy Harmon officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Following the service, military honors will be performed by the Rockingham County Honor Guard and the North Carolina National Guard.
Tommy was a native of Rockingham County and the son of the late, Lacey and Anna Cox. He was a longtime and faithful member of The Rock Church of the Living God where he served in many leadership positions of the church. His legacy will live on because of his love for his family, his service to his church and his commitment to his friends. He always put others first and was willing to help in any way possible. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Soloman.
Tommy is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sadie Cox of the home; his children, Rhonda Sue Lilly and husband, Brook of Reidsville and Gary Cox of Greensboro; his grandchildren, Laci and Aaron Comer, Elizabeth, Josh, Nicholas and Mollie Cox; his great grandchildren, Payton, Finley, Amelia and Trenton; his brothers, Bobby Cox and wife, Penny of South Boston, VA and Sonny Cox of Lynchburg, VA; his sisters, Betty Wall of Reidsville and Ann Woody and husband, Charles of South Boston, VA and a large extended family.
