Edward "Ed" V. Hunt

Martinsville- Mr. Edward “Ed” V. Hunt, III, 76, of 1612 Rivermont Heights, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2014, at home. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, May 25, 2014, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Garrison officiating. Interment will follow in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 25, 2014, from 3-4 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Edward Hunt was born on August 23, 1937, in Wilmington, NC to the late Edward Vincent Hunt, Jr. and Mabel Rose Howard Hunt. He married Bobbie Jean Griffin on November 28, 1992 at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Wentworth. He retired from DuPont after more than 25 years. He also worked at the Flea Market . He loved sailboats, canoes and trains and really loved his dogs and cats. Ed was a good friend to everyone and loved his family. Along with his parents, Mr. Hunt was preceded in death by a daughter, Katherine Elizabeth Hunt Byrd. Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Jean Griffin Frazier Hunt; his ex-wife, Katherine “Kitty” L. Hunt; his children, Edward Vincent Hunt, IV and fiancée Mary Catherine Nichols, Joseph Scott Hunt and wife Tina and Melody Rose Hunt Shockley and husband Tim; his son-in-law, Bernard Byrd; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; his sister Elizabeth “Libby” Pearson and numerous neices and nephews.
