Reidsville- Mr. Edwin Manning Stanton, Jr., 95, of Reidsville, passed away on Saturday, January 24th, 2015.
Mr. Stanton was born on May 5th, 1919 in Charlotte to the late Edwin M. Stanton and Mozelle Inman Stanton. He was a United States Army veteran, having served in World War II as a platoon leader and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Stanton was a graduate of RCA Institute in New York City and Guilford College. He retired as a radio engineer and announcer and worked at various stations in the Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh areas. He enjoyed collecting and working with electronics.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Evans Stanton and his sister, Anne S. Bowling.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews including, Phyllis Perkinson and husband, Mark; Paula Watkins and husband, David and Billy Coleman, all of Reidsville; one sister-in-law, Chestina E. Coleman, also of Reidsville.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, January 26th, 2015 at two o’clock at First Presbyterian Church. Dr. Doug McLeroy will officiate. Interment will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Boyd Room at First Presbyterian Church and other times at the home of his nephew, Billy Coleman.
