Elaine P. Hopkins

Mrs. Elaine P. Hopkins, 76, of Ruffin, passed away on Thursday, January 18th, 2018. A graveside funeral service will be held at two o’clock on Monday, January 22nd, 2018 at Happy Home Christian Church Cemetery. Pastor James B. Mayes will officiate. Mrs. Hopkins was born on January 31st, 1941 in Rockingham County to the late James Marvin and Josie Scearce Powell. She was retired from Miller Brewing Company and was a member of Holland Road Baptist Church in Danville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Hopkins. Survivors include one son Kenny Walker and wife, Donnell; four daughters, Cindy Carroll and husband, Keith; Janet Holt and husband, Mike; Carolyn Vanderwerf and husband, David; Debra Parker and husband, Neal; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Powell and Jerry Powell and wife, Teresa. The family will receive friends on Sunday from two until four o’clock at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at Mrs. Hopkins home. Memorials may be made to the Happy Home cemetery fund or to Holland Road Baptist Church.
