Reidsville: Elizabeth McCollum Carter, 93, passed away June 25, 2016 at Annie Penn Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Jonathan Marlowe officiating. Interment will follow in Midway United Methodist Church cemetery and the family will have a reception of friends in the fellowship hall. The family will receive friends one-hour prior to the service from 10 till 11:00 AM also at Wilkerson Funeral Home; other times at her home.
Mrs. Carter was born in Rockingham County February 1, 1923 to the late John Clayton McCollum and Georgia Adkins McCollum. She was a member of the James Hunter Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution in Madison, NC, where she had served as corresponding secretary. Elizabeth retired from the American Tobacco Company. She was a devoted care-taker of her husband, Elwood for 12 years before he passed. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood P. Carter and her brother, Henry Clayton McCollum.
Survivors include her sisters India Stone and Nancy Moricle and brother, Paul Thomas McCollum. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
